“Hey, I’m nervous… Could you help me delay my presentation?”. This is a typical representation of the conversation that takes place in my head every time I have to stand in front of a large crowd. I’m sure I have witnesses scattered around the world.

Now, its okay to have stage fright, I mean, some great speakers today once found it difficult to mount the podium to even “test if the microphone was loud enough”.

I remember one time I was supposed to make a presentation in school and I had the jittery feeling… I was shaking all over, but I remembered something my mentor told me back then in high school; he said “no matter how many people are in front of you, just imagine you’re standing in front of a mirror and all you see is a reflection of how beautiful you are“.

Truth be told, these words keep replaying in my head anytime I want to mount a podium; sometimes I’m too scared to think about them but whenever I do, it works perfectly.

Now, I’ll be dropping tips on how to overcome stage fright:

1.

Never stare directly at anyone because if you do, chances are you might lose the little confidence you were struggling to build.

2.

I’m giving out my strategy which is the “Mirror strategy”. If you’re looking for confidence, look within yourself and your “imaginary reflection” helps you do that.

3.

Never ever look down while presenting except you want to read out a point that you’ve scribbled on a paper or a notepad.

4.

If you’re giving a presentation, try as much as possible to make it a bit interactive. That way, you let others assist in doing the talking.

5.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.

Happy Sunday.
